The site is a joint project of the Ground Water Protection Council and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. It's called the FracFocus Chemical Disclosure Registry.
While the registry is voluntary, numerous Barnett Shale producers have said they plan to participate. Hydraulic fracturing involves blasting water, sand and chemicals into a shale bed to fracture the shale and allow gas to escape. The technique made development of the Barnett Shale possible.
